Finally, Staff Selection Commission has announced SSC CGL 2017 notification on 16th May 2017. According to the notification, there are estimated 10,000 vacancies for various Group B and C job positions.

Combined Graduation Level Examination (CGL or CGLE) is one of the most competitive exams in India. Also, it gives you entry into coveted central government jobs.

SSC CGL 2017 Exam Pattern, Mode and Syllabus

The SSC CGL 2017 exam will be conducted in 4 tiers process. The candidates have to qualify for each tier to progress to further tiers.

The personal interview has been removed, therefore, only examination and practical will be conducted in all cases.

Total duration: 1 hour

Total questions: 100 questions

Total marks: 50 marks

Mode: Computer based

Pattern: Multiple choice questions

Negative marking: -0.5

SSC CGL Tier 1 Pattern and Mode

SSC CGL Tier 2:

Total duration: 2 hours

Total questions: 500

Total marks: 800

Mode: Computer based

Pattern: Multiple choice questions

Negative marking: -0.25

SSC CGL 2017 Tier 2 Pattern and Mode

SSC CGL Tier 3:

Total duration: 1 hour

Total marks: 100

Mode: Pen and paper

Pattern: Descriptive

Negative marking: nil

SSC CGL 2017 Tier 3 Pattern and Mode

SSC CGL Tier 4:

Total duration: 1 hour (approx.)

Syllabus: Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) at 8,000 key depression per hour

Mode: Computer based

Pattern: typing

Negative marketing: nil

9(E)

Total duration: 1 hour (approx.)

Syllabus: CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) that includes: Word, PowerPoint, and Slide presentation

11(a, b, c)

Total duration: Tentative

Total duration: 1 hour (approx.)

Syllabus: Medical test, Cycling and Walking

Note: The mode of application is online only. Application fee is Rs. 100/- only.

  1. Visit this link: http://ssc.nic.in/
  2. Click on ‘New Registration’ button
  3. Fill up the registration form
  4. Registration Id and password will be generated
  5. Upload photos and signature
  6. Fill up the application form with accurate details
  7. Click on ‘Final Submit’ (only if you’ve filled up application form completely with accurate details)
  8. Choose mode of payment: offline or online
  9. Make payment either online or offline
  10. Take print out of the final application form
