Louis Althusser, a French Marxist philosopher, introduced the concept of “Repressive State Apparatus” in his works. He distinguished between two forms of state apparatuses: Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) and Repressive State Apparatus (RSA). The Repressive State Apparatus includes institutions like the police, military, and judiciary, which maintain social order through coercion and force.
