Eligibility Criteria of Jamia’s MA English Course
Following is the eligibility criteria for MA English entrance at JMI University:
| Minimum 50% marks in any bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a UGC recognized university |
| Applicants in their final year of the bachelor’s degree or awaiting their results are eligible to apply provided they submit the documents for admission before the deadline. |

Syllabus of JMI University MA English Entrance
The entrance test for the Master of Arts (MA) in English program at Jamia Millia Islamia University consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. The syllabus for the entrance test is as follows:
| Part A: This section of the entrance test is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper that assesses the candidate’s knowledge of history of English literature, literary terms and genres, classical literature, literary movements, and literary theory and criticism. |
| Part B: This section of the entrance test is a descriptive paper that assesses the candidate’s critical and analytical skills. The syllabus for Part B includes: an essay on critiquing an excerpt or quotation from literary theory and criticism (30 marks) and a reflective essay on authors, texts, movements, and critical perceptions (30 marks). |

Jamia Millia Islamia University has a reservation policy for admissions to the MA English programme. The reservation policy is as follows:
| Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% |
| Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5% |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 27% |
| Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% |
| Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 5% |
The university also provides a horizontal reservation for the following categories:

| 03: Login using the registered email ID and password and fill the online application form |
| 04: Upload the scanned copy of the candidate’s photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size. |
| 05: Pay the application fee online through net banking, credit/debit card or UPI. |
| 06: Application fee is Rs. 500/- per program |
| 07: Review and submit the application form. |
| 08: Take a printout of the application form and fee receipt. |
