How to Prepare for CUET PG Political Science?

This question has eluded almost all students preparing for CUET PG Political Science.

However, the answer to preparation strategy lies in understanding the exam pattern and syllabus content.

With limited time and structured approach you still prepare effectively for the exam.

Without needing to drown under the sea of books and content.

So, let’s understand how this can be done.

Why do even bright students fail to score high marks in CUET PG Political Science?

Now, this is a major problem for almost all students.

Over the years, we have seen students who are bright and completed their UG degrees from India’s top universities eventually fail to secure seats in any top university due to low scores in CUET PG.

And this has been very frequent, why is that?

The problem lies in not being able to understand the exam pattern.

Basically, CUET PG Political Science is an MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) based test.

Which means, you will have one objective question with 4 options, and you’ve to select one correct option.

An incorrect option will give you negative marking.

So, what should be the approach for CUET PG Pol. Sci. preparation?

Now, the problem here is that all students prepare for such an exam as if they are preparing for their UG degree exam which is always subjective.

But, this CUET PG exam is totally objective and MCQ based.

With a subjective approach, students are preparing for questions such as “Explain Natural Rights” or “Elaborate John Rawls’ Justice Theory”.

But in reality they should be preparing for objective questions such as “Which of the following wrote Leviathan?” or “Which of the following works mentions Original Position & Veil of Ignorance?”.

You can see the difference in the type of question.

You can verify this by checking out CUET PG Political Science previous year question papers

Basically, you will need to focus on the breadth of your syllabus and objective details instead of going vertically in-depth into theories and concepts.

Objective details will help you crack this exam such as Names, Terms, Years, Events, Works, and others.

What is more important here: Concept Clarity or Memorization?

Conceptual clarity is extremely important for your subjective exams, where you get freedom to explain and critically analyze as per abilities.

However, in the case of objective exams such as CUET PG the more emphasis is on memorization.

But, that does not mean that conceptual clarity is not important.

It is important but you don’t need to go vertically in-depth.

Otherwise, you will be wasting your precious preparation time.

Though this could be beneficial for your subjective exam.

In nutshell, you need both but focus should be more on memorization.
