UGC Academic Calendar 2020 - Semester Exam & Admission Dates

Due to nation-wide lockdown, UGC announced notification that has extended semester exams, admissions and entrance dates. Read to know more. 

The global Covid19 scare has forced countries including India to lockdown. That’s primarily to stop the virus from spreading, and break the transmission chain. 

University Grants Commission (UGC) which is the top regulatory body for higher education in India, faced the problem of managing the academic activity in India. 

Therefore, UGC constituted an expert committee to come up with ideas and solutions to manage the activities such as semester exam schedule, admission process etc. 

Following are the major concerns during lockdown: 

1. Health and safety issues of students and staff
2. Managing and conducting exams under present situation
3. Conduct other the important academic activities
4. Robust plan for next year academic session

In order to solve above problems, UGC expert committee came out with detailed plan and guidelines that also recommendations for: 

• Using innovative modes of teaching-learning process 
• New academic calendar for 2019-20 and 2020-21 sessions
• Deploying innovative methods of online and offline exam modes
• Maintaining laboratories at Universities
