CLAT 2017 – Common Law Admission Test 2017 – online application has started from 1st January 2017 for its UG and PG programme. The last date to online application is 31st March 2017.

The CLAT is a non-statutory body consisting of 18 National Law Universities. This body will be conducting CLAT 2017 providing convenience to students to apply to all 18 universities at one place.

There are two categories of Law courses under the CLAT that are 5 Year Integrated LLB Honors course and LLB course. The eligibility criteria and syllabus for both are different.

The Common Law Admission Test is one of the India’s most popular and highly competitive law entrance test. If you’re planning to get admission in law school, then CLAT has to be on the top of the list.

Each year, CLAT core committee select the organizing university for CLAT. This year it is Chanakya National Law University based in Patna city, which is in Bihar state.

There are 18 national law universities under CLAT 2017. The list is given below:

CLAT 2017 – Important Dates

The online application start date – 1st January 2017

Last date to apply online – 31st March 2017

CLAT 2017 exam date and time – 14th May 2017 (Sunday) from 3 pm to 5 pm

CLAT 2017 Result Declaration – 29th May 2017

The application has already started. Therefore, students are advised to apply in time.

 

CLAT 2017 – Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for UG and PG programmes are different for CLAT exam as given below.

UG Programmes CLAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Passed 10+2 from a recognized education board with:

  • (i) 45 percent for general, OBC, specially abled persons, NRIs, and NRI sponsored categories
  • (ii) 40 percent in case of SC and ST categories

Age limit: below 20 years for categories in (i) and 22 years for categories in (ii) as on 1st July 2017.

PG Programmes CLAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

LLB or equivalent degree passed from recognized university/college in India.

  • Minimum 55 percent marks for general, OBC, specially abled persons, NRIs and NRI sponsored categories
  • Minimum 50 percent marks for SC and ST categories

Age limit: there’s no age limit

CLAT 2017 Syllabus and Pattern for UG and PG Programmes

As per the notification, Undergraduate programmes CLAT 2017 syllabus and pattern as given following:

Total marks – 200

Total duration – 2 hours

Pattern – objective type/multiple choice questions

Subject wise break up:

English Comprehension 40
General Knowledge and Current Affairs 50
Numerical Ability 20
Legal Aptitude 50
Logical Reasoning  40

As per the notification, Post graduate programmes CLAT 2017 syllabus and pattern as given following:

Total marks – 150

Total duration – 2 hours

Pattern – objective type/multiple choice questions

Subject wise break up:

Topics Marks
Constitutional Law 50
Jurisprudence 50
Other law subject (contract, torts, criminal, international, IPR, environment, and business laws) 50

*negative marking is applicable by 0.25 mark for each wrong answer in both UG and PG CLAT 2017

  4. Fill up the application form accurately
  5. Upload photos, signature, and other relevant documents
  6. Pay application fee online
  7. Download CLAT 2017 admit card
