About the Book
The book’s title as suggest provides a compact and concise view of History of English. Though, Sampson’s viewpoint of the history of English literature was narrow, and biased in many ways.
However, after the R.C. Churchill editing, many of its flaws had been done away with. Moreover, the literature of other worlds such as Indian and North American subcontinents, Caribbean, New Zealand, and South Asian are given enough space.
Nevertheless, this book is always recommended to students for a comprehensive reading and easy to understand language. Any student preparing for MA English Entrance and UGC NET English should this book.
